Who am I?
Hello! I’m
Maaike from the Netherland. I’ve been traveling the world for many years, and
in the past few, I’ve become hooked on adventurous, long-distance hiking. My
holidays have turned into adventurous outdoor journeys. Perfect way to escape the
hustle of city life and the office grind.
Trails I hiked:
I’ve
tackled trails like the John Muir Trail, 340 km (2022), Grand traversee des Alpes in France 620 km
(2021 & 2023), and Nordkalottleden in northern Scandinavia 750 km (2024). My goal is to explore more stunning natural landscapes
across Europe, always with my tent in tow. I believe there’s incredible beauty close to home that often goes unnoticed, and we should take the time to appreciate it more.

My focus is on providing practical insights and clear guidance to help others prepare for and experience the trails with confidence. This approach closely aligns with the book I wrote about the Nordkalottleden, where sharing reliable information for fellow hikers is central.
